Godard when interviewed about Pierrot le fou

  • Cahiers: One feels that the subject emerges only when the film is over. During the screening one thinks this is it, or that, but at the end one realizes there was a real subject.
  • Godard: But that's cinema. Life arranges itself. One is never quite sure what one is going to do tomorrow, but by the end of the week one can say, after the event, "I have lived."
