hopefully I can resist the temptation for a while although I am wondering how i'm going to find out about any social events, I guess I'm going to have to ask people in real life
i guess the sense of achievement will be worth withdrawing from stalking people haha
Oh yeah, i totally forgot, I really miss the stalking as well! Major downside, that
As long as your friends remember to tell you, social events and stuff should be all good. Not a huge problem during term anyway, just holidays.
I am kind of proud of myself for staying off fb for this long, though tumblrs just kind of taken up the time i would have spent on there anyway…i still think its time well spent, though, tumblr is much nicer
A lot of the movie posters you put up aren't minimal and don't seem to have any thought put into the typography at all. What kind of selection process do you have?
I’ll admit that I’ve gotten pretty lax about the definition of “minimal”. I could rename the blog but I don’t really want to. Call it false advertising, but I don’t think its causing any harm to be honest, and it just allows me to get more artists’ work out there. Anyway, I think most of the posters I put up are minimal and a few not-really-minimal ones slip in here and there. If you think otherwise, then I’m sorry, but I don’t plan on doing anything about it.
Most of the posters on the blog are submissions, so the quality of the posters is only as good as what is submitted. I try to pick out the best of the posters submitted, but of course “best” is quite subjective. I also try to respond to requests with the posters I’ve found on the net and saved. So, if I’ve only got one or two posters of a certain movie someone’s requested, I’ll probably end up posting one of them and they may not necessarily be masterpieces, but by my own standards I would think them worth publishing. Usually I’ll forgive dodgy typography if the idea is good, or if the concept isn’t terribly original I’ll probably still post it if its an aesthetically appealing poster. Truly brilliant posters don’t grow on trees, I’m sorry to say, which makes it difficult to sustain a four-post-a-day blog with 100% top quality content that pleases everybody 100% of the time…
Anyway, I hope you still find things to enjoy on Minimal Movie Posters, whatever your qualms about some of the content.
Just a major thanks for the Lost boys poster, it's one of my all time favourite films, as you already have my favourite there, I don't need to ask for it.
Really appreciate it, plus lifeonthirtyfive is my best mate and he was saying how he really hopes you could get that poster for him.
Keep them coming
You should definitely do the reviews thing. Would be most excellent. Also, might I recommend Mark Kermode's reviews? He's a BBC critic, and one of my faves. Somewhat pretentious, though...
Um the first review I click on, and he says he’s a “big Twilight fan”. Hmm. Not the best of first impressions, but I think he’s got a pretty accessible style, not terribly pretentious. I’ll check out a bit more of his stuff and see what I think :)
I really love your minimal movie posters tumblr, its beyond awesome! btw, i'm using the same template too!
anyways, what font are you using for your tumblr title? the font for "MINIMAL MOVIE POSTERS" on the right side bar, just above the archive buttons and all?
